October is Black History Month and we want to spend the next week beginning to celebrate the hidden figures and unsung heroes that have been overlooked by the history books. In Year 5 we intend to spend the next week beginning to delve into these stories but appreciate that this is not something that should not just be touched on during Black History Month.
Over the next week we will look at the contribution of African Americans to NASAs work over the past century as well as looking at Music of Black Origin. We don’t intend to just limit this to Black History Month and hope to interweave all our projects with the theme of hidden figures and unsung heroes.
We would be really grateful if you have any suggestions of people that you think we should recognise and celebrate the contribution of.
